Grancino Editions
Based on a collection of over 8,000 compositions for cello from the 17th - early 19th century, Grancino Editions publishes uncluttered, urtext modern editions (and some facsimile reprints) of music featuring the cello in a solo capacity from the Baroque and Classical eras. Most of this beautiful music has lain silent on dusty archive shelves and has not been heard for centuries. Editorial markings are minimal, aimed only at clarification, and always indicated as such. Our aim is to put the performer in touch with the composer's original intention. All modern editions are published with duplicate parts in score for cello duos and/or cello plus Basso continuo, and are organized to eliminate or minimize awkward page turns. In the keyboard score the figured bass is sparsely realized to allow keyboard players unfamiliar with realizing figured bass to play, but also allowing room for more elaborate realizations.
